BROCOT CARRIAGE CLOCK A LA JAPONAISE Achille Brocot, French, No. 486. Made in the Japanese taste, circa 1890. Fine and rare, gilt and silvered brass 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking carriage clock with repeating.
C. Multi-piece, ?Anglaise?, gilt-brass, the top with glazed aperture to view the escapement, the sides with panels of silvered and gilt brass chased with Japanese fi gures amongst bamboo foliage, hinged handle. D. Circular annular matte silvered with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, dial mask chased with flowers and foliage with two quails at the bottom. Blued steel hands. M. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for both trains, cylinder escapement on a silvered platform, plain three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on a gong. Movement punched AB within a star for Achille Brocot. DIM. 12.3 x 8.4 x 7.5 cm. Excluding handle.
