THE FLOWER GIRL & MINSTREL MINUTE REPEATER & AUTOMATON WATCH Attributed to C. Barbezat-Baillot, Le Locle-Suisse, ?Répétition à Minutes?, No. 8058. Made circa 1890. Fine and rare, large, minute-repeating, 18K yellow gold hunting cased, keyless pocket watch with painted on enamel automaton jacks.

C. Four-body, ?bassine?, etched and engraved with scenes of courting couples in landscapes, engraved band. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the technical details and an engine-turned border. D. Small opalescent enamel with radial gold paillon Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, flanked by polychrome painted on enamel figures of a flower girl and minstrel below cherubs holding bells, repeating hours, quarters, and minutes on bells, sheet music and birds below, the whole on a polished gilt plate. Gilt spade hands. M. 44 mm (20???), rhodium plated, 19 jewels, straightline lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Case numbered. DIAM. 58 mm.
