?Day and Night Mysterieuse? Cartier, No. 3724. Made circa 1910. Very fine and exceptionally rare, silver, gold, guilloché enamel, rose cut diamond-set and hardstone eight-day going desk clock with electrical illumination and the original Cartier paper-covered box.
C. Silver, drum-form, the band and front and back bezels decorated with deep green guilloché enamel with opaque white enamel outlining, cast and chased leaf and berry borders, chased gold bezel for the crystal and pierced and engraved gold trellis for the back, raised on a rectangular molded hardstone base with cylindrical volutes. D. Opaque glass with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Rose diamond-set platinum hands with arrow-tips. M. Within the hardstone base, rectangular, ring-turned pillars, frosted gilt, going barrel, elongated center wheel pinion geared to the hour and minute wheels located between the dial and an ?A? shaped brass frame, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, flat blued steel balance spring, index regulator. Three small electric light bulbs mounted inside the upper part of the case and powered by a cable passing through the base. Dial and case signed. Dim. 120 x 90 x 55 mm.
