Cartier, France, No. 3958, made in the 1920's. Fine and unusual silver and gold, eight day going travelling time-piece, in original red leather fitted box.
C. Rectangular, decorated with alternating gold and silver bands, the cover rotating and sliding on a bail bearing concealed within the case. D. Silver gilt rectangular, matt and engine-turned with Roman numerals. Gold "cathedrales" hands. M. 18"', rhodium plated, European Watch & Clock Co., "fausses côtes" decoration, 15 jewels, two barrel train with differential gearing, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed "Cartier" on the dial and European Watch & Clock Co. on the movement. In very good condition. Dim. 82 x 54 mm.
