Cartier, France, No 45830-1364, circa 1905. Fine silver, enamel and ormolu small double face 8 day going desk time-piece in the form of a Louis XVI clock, with barometer.

The time piece and the barometer are set at each side of a mauve translucent enamelled engine turned silver cylinder held by a gilt bronze fluted column decorated with oak leaf wreath and garlands, the square base set with an oval cartouche of mauve translucent enamel over engine turning. White enamel dial on the front face with Breguet numerals (slightly restored). Gold pierced hands. GiIt brass three quarter plate 8 day movement, 17 jewels, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring. White enamel dial on the rear face for the barometer. Signed on both dials. In good condition. Dim. 180x60x60 mm. This clock is a small reproduction of a model, very popular in the XVlllth century, created by Osmond, the famous French bronze craftsman. A very similar example is illustrated in " Le Temps de Cartier" page 25.
