Notes

The name Cartier is synonymous with beautiful objects of quality and style. Cartier was founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis- François Cartier. In 1874 his son, Alfred Cartier, took over the administration of the company, but it was his sons, Louis, Pierre and Jacques, who were responsible for establishing the world-wide brand name of Cartier. Due to their international prestige Cartier (together with Tiffany & Co.) was the last retailers name to appear as co-brand on a Rolex dial. Both Cartier and Tiffany ceased to be Rolex agents in the late 1980s. The high prices now obtained for any Rolex with 'Cartier' on a dial is due not only to the fact that this was the last company (together with Tiffany & Co.) to have its name on a Rolex dial but also to the tradition and heritage that the name Cartier Signifies.
