Cartier, New York, Art Deco commemoration cigar box with clock presented by The United States Polo Association after the match Argentina vs. United States held in September 1928. Fine and interesting silver, gold and coral cigar box fitted with an eight day-going clock.

The box: rectangular, hinged top with gold edges and pierced gold corner appliqués, inscription in the center, square coral-color molded hard stone feet set in fluted silver, front panel fitted with the clock, the gold bezel set with the same hard stone, each side with pierced gold ornament finished with fleur de lis. Clock movement fitted in a two-piece, drum type case with detachable plain back. D. Rectangular, silvered and matted, printed radial Roman numerals. Gold "spade" hands. M. 44 mm. (19 1/2???), rhodium plated, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring. Signed on the dial, movement signed Concord Watch Co., box with inscription giving details of the competition. Dim. 19 x 12 x 7 cm.
