CARTIER ? YELLOW GOLD MINIATURE DESK CLOCK Cartier, ?Pendulette de Voyage?, No. 3842/57835, the movement by Geneva Clock Co., No. 57834. Made circa 1950. Very fine and very rare, 14K gold, 8-day going, miniature desk clock. Accompanied by the original key.

Rectangular, the case entirely engine turned with rayons de soleil, polished bezel, the hinged and sprung catch operated by a fold-down and fl ush fi tting semi-circular fl ange, stepped base, the front with engraved monogram BD, the back with engraved presentation inscription dated 1951. D. Matte silver with polished gold baton and square hour indexes. Yellow gold sword hands. M. 34 x 23 mm., rhodium plated, further matte brass plate fi xed to the backplate by two screws, 15 jewels, going barrel, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial and case signed Cartier, movement signed Geneva Clock Co., case and movement numbered. Dim. 52 x 42 x 33 mm. Property of an Italian collector

This very appealing little clock is of high-quality construction. It has cleverly made mechanism for opening the back door, a fl ush-fi t semi-circular disc hinges out and is then moved to the right and the catch opens. Inside, on the back of the movement the key is housed in two grips ? an ingenious solution
