Very fine and rare, very small and elegant, oval, platinum and diamond-set lady's wristwatch with integral 18K white gold tile- link bracelet with concealed Cartier deployant clasp, No. 3789.

Two-body, polished and brushed, the upper and lower edges set with six baguette diamonds, oval border further set with 22 graduated round diamonds, back with 2 screws, back winder. White with painted black Arabic numerals. Blued steel lozenge hands. Cal. 101, baguette, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 15 jewels, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance adjusted to two positions, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator.

Dial and case signed Cartier and with Cartier numbers, movement signed Cartier, case and deployant clasp punched EJ for Edmond Jaeger. DIM. 19.5 x 14 mm. THICKNESS 5 mm. Approx. overall length 150 mm. A rare and tiny Cartier lady's wristwatch using the famous calibre 101 movement by Jaeger- LeCoultre. The calibre 101 was introduced in 1929 and at the time was celebrated as the smallest watch movement ever made, measuring 14 x 4.8 x 3.4 mm. The Duoplan movement itself was the idea of Paris watchmaker Henri Rodanet, an ingenious wheel train layout that allowed the movement to retain its timekeeping properties yet could be made in very small sizes for lady's watches.
