CARTIER AGATE DESK / TRAVEL CLOCK Cartier, Paris, No. 901. Made by European Watch and Clock Co. Inc., France, circa 1920. Fine and very rare, agate, gold, enamel, sapphire and rose-cut diamond-set gilt brass, 8-day going desk clock. Accompanied by the original Cartier box with fold-out easel.

Square, polished agate, bezel decorated with round gold inlay on black champleve enamel, each corner set with a cabochon sapphire in a gold mount, gilt brass drum case for the movement with hinged easel. Guilloche silver with radial Roman numerals on a plain reserve, outer minute track, the center with sunray engine-turned decoration. Gold fancy arrow hands. Cal. 43 mm., rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator.
