CARTIER "PENDULETTE DE VOYAGE A REPETITION A QUARTS, BONS SOUHAITS" Cartier, "Bons Souhaits", No. 1436. Made circa 1908. Very fine and very rare, quarter-repeating, silver, gold, enamel and agate-set, eight-day going desk clock.

Rectangular silver with white champleve enameled borders, beaded and laurel mounts, the top and four pillars decorated with translucent violet guilloche enamel, the base with gold paillon wreaths, bezel decorated with white champlevé enamel and yellow gold dots, the front, side panels and back door set with panels of polished agate, sugar-loaf amethyst repeat button, back door with cabochon quartz pull, raised on bun feet. White enamel with the words "Bons Souhaits" in place of numerals, outer painted gold dot minute indexes. Pierced gold circle and arrow hands. Gilt brass probably by Nocturne, No. 678, rectangular with going barrel, frosted and gilt platform with straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by the amethyst push-piece at the top. Case punch signed Cartier and numbered on the base.
