Queen Nazli FouadBorn on June 25, 1894, she married King I. Ahmet Fouad of Egypt on May 26, 1919. Unhappy in her marriage, Queen Nazli was a famous lover and collector of fine jewelry. After the peaceful revolution in Egypt in July 1952, the remaining jewelry the Royal family had was confiscated and is today on display in the Royal Jewelry Museum in Alexandria, inaugurated in October 1986. Sotheby?s New York sold some of Queen Nazli?s personal jewelry on Nov. 20, 1975, including this lot. Queen Nazli died on May29, 1978 in Los Angeles. Her grave is in Culver City, California
