Notes

The legendary racing schooner Westward was known as the "Herreshoff Flyer". Designed by the "wizard of Bristol" for the New York industrialist Alexander S. Cochran, she was built in 1909 and in 1910 was undoubtedly the fastest rac-ing yacht in the world. She won the Emperor's Cup at the Kiel regatta against the Kaiser's "Meteor IV".
