Probably unique and extremely rare, silver, enamel and agate, 8-day going, key-winding, vertical rectangular-shaped, pre-Art Deco minuscule carriage-clock (so-called “mignonette”), given to one of their guests, whose first name begins with the letter 'E', by Albert and Miriam de Rothschild to celebrate their wedding on December 15, 1910.
Silver cabinet with Vieux-rose (light-rose) flinqué enamel (translucent enamel over guilloché engine-turning) décor; the side panels each with a rose-cut diamond in their centres; the top panel with the cypher "E" in a diamond rose-cut pattern; the glass bezel in gold and white enamel; the base in agate.
Silver guilloché (engine-turned) dial with radial indexes formed by the letters of the first names "MIRIAM" and "ALBERT"; rose-cut diamond-set “Fantasy Arrow” silver hands.
Movement, 35.5 x 23.1 x 11.1 mm. (including low-plate), rectangular, gilded-brass, going barrel, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, polished steel index-regulator.

Albert von Goldschmidt-Rothschild (1879-1941) and Miriam de Rothschild (1884-1965)
Albert was the son of Baron (Freiherr) Maximilian von Goldschmidt-Rothschild (1843-1940), a German banker and art patron (of the so-called Frankfurt branch), considered one of the richest men in the German Empire, and, of Minna Caroline von Rothschild (1857-1903); both married in 1878.
Albert married on December 15, 1910, Miriam Caroline Alexandrine de Rothschild (1884-1965). She was the daughter of Edmond de Rothschild (1845-1934), French banker, philanthropist and art collector (of the so-called Paris branch), and, of Adelheid "Adélaïde" von Rothschild (1852-1935); both married in 1877.
Adelheid "Adélaïde" von Rothschild (1852-1935) and Minna Caroline von Rothschild (1857-1903) are sisters. They are the daughters of Wilhelm von Rothschild (1828-1907), a German banker and art patron (of the so-called Frankfurt branch), and, of Hannah Mathilde von Rothschild (1832-1924) (of the so-called Vienne branch).

The clock bears the cypher “E” which, according to the seller of the object, is that of a lady of the Rothschild family. Without further information, it is difficult to identify this person. It could be Emma Louise von Rothschild (1844-1935), wife of Nathaniel Mayer “Natty” Rothschild (1840-1915).
