The Tank by Cartier appeared in 1917 and was marketed in 1919. Since then, the model has undergone many changes: Chinese (1922), Waterproof (1931), à Guichet (1928), Reversible (1932). It knew a resounding success and was worn by the important figures. As Andy Warhol said: “ I don’t wear a Tank to tell the time. In fact, I never wind it. I wear a Tank because it’s the watch to wear,” he explained in 1973. The Tank Cintrée, born in 1921, has a curved case matching the wrist. Our model, from the 1990s, has two particularities: it is made of platinum, i.e. rarer, and dual time, i.e. with two time-zone.

La Tank de Cartier apparaît en 1917 et est commercialisée en 1919. Depuis, le modèle fut décliné de nombreuses fois : Chinoise (1922), Étanche (1931), à Guichet (1928), Réversible (1932). Elle connut un succès fulgurant et fut porté par toutes les grandes personnalités. Comme disait Andy Warhol : « Je ne porte par une montre Tank pour qu’elle me donne l’heure, expliqua-t-il un jour en 1973. Je porte une Tank parce que c’est LA montre à porter. » La Tank Cintrée, née en 1921, a pour particularité d’avoir un boîtier « curvex » dont les courbes correspondent à la forme du poignet. Notre modèle, des années 1990, se distingue par deux autres éléments : elle est en platine, c’est-à-dire plus rare, et dual time, à savoir avec deux indications horaires.
