Notes

A Property from an Important Hong Kong collector

The European Watch & Clock Co. Inc. (EWC) was a strategic partnership formed in the early 1920s between Cartier and Edmond Jaeger (of Jaeger-LeCoultre). Established circa 1919–1921, the venture integrated Cartier’s iconic aesthetic design with Jaeger’s world-class Swiss movement manufacturing. EWC movements are highly prized by collectors today for their technical precision and historical exclusivity.

These movements powered Cartier’s most significant Art Deco creations, including the present lot: an elegant rectangular diamond-set dress watch. This exceptional example boasts remarkable technical integrity, with the movement number (429765) matching the engraved case number on the outer caseback. Furthermore, the Ref number (22481) engraved on the outer caseback is consistently matched on the inner caseback and the case lip.
