Notes

For the past century, Cartier made its reputation as one of the main pillar in the luxury watchmaking industry. Released in 1912, the Tortue (Turtle) is a variation of the Tonneau Cintré created by Louis Cartier in 1906. The model has undergone many evolutions during the 1920’s such as the Monopusher (1928). In 1998, Cartier relaunched it as part of the Collection Privée Cartier Paris collection (CPCP). The Tortue Multiple Time Zones was presented in 2013. It offers a very advanced GMT complication: the left side of the case features a small window which allows the user to view a selectable range of cities and define their desired local timezone. This lot is a beautiful example of the evolution of an icon, and Cartier’s ability to reinvent itself throughout the years.
