Notes

This exceptional Cartier Gondole Horizontal Jumbo Ref. 97051 in 18K white gold features a highly coveted «Paris» dial. Dating to the early 1970s, it belongs to the legendary Louis Cartier Collection.

Launched in 1973 to mark Cartier’s unification and the shift of manufacturing from France to Switzerland, this landmark series comprised 12 iconic models reinterpreted from the Maison’s heritage. Offered in large and small variants for a total of 23 timepieces, these watches were crafted in bold, opulent 18K gold.

Among the most striking designs in the collection, the Ref. 97051 (also known as the Gondole Horizontale Jumbo) features a commanding horizontal cushion “TV screen” case with a distinctive stepped bezel, measuring approximately 35mm × 38 mm.

The presented white-gold example is of extreme rarity—significantly scarcer than the yellow gold version (approximately only 50–70 pieces)—with very few surviving examples known to the market. This beautiful timepiece stands as one of the rarest and most charismatic expressions of Cartier’s 1970s.
