Notes

This charming 18K yellow gold wristwatch with stirrup lugs, this exceptionally beautiful Cartier Cloche is crafted in the distinctive bell-shaped case (French for “bell”) measuring approximately 23 x 31 mm. The exterior caseback is signed ‘Cartier’ and bears the individual case number, alongside the ‘750’ gold purity mark and the French ‘eagle’s head’ hallmark, the inner caseback is engraved with the number ‘86,’ which correctly matches the case side lid. The silvered dial features black enameled Arabic numerals and the highly desirable ‘CARTIER PARIS’ signature.

The Cloche model, first introduced by Cartier in the early 1920s, stands out among the maison’s iconic shaped watches for its sculptural design inspired by a bell lying on its side. Production of these early mechanical examples was extremely limited, making well-preserved items like this one particularly scarce. This watch is a beautiful and rare collector’s piece that perfectly embodies the innovative spirit of mid-20th-century Cartier.
