Notes

Among the rarest and most intellectually ambitious creations produced by Chaumet during the final decade of the twentieth century, the Pléiade reference A10 represents a conjunction of two of the most demanding complications in mechanical watchmaking: the jumping hour display and the automatic movement architecture developed by FP Journe, whose involvement at this period of his career lends the watch a provenance of exceptional significance to the connoisseur of fine horology. The movement, based on the Jaeger-LeCoultre ebauche but substantially modified to accommodate the jumping hour mechanism, reflects a level of technical ambition rarely associated with a jewellery house, and speaks to the commitment made by Chaumet in the early 1990s to produce timepieces worthy of the most demanding horological standards rather than merely the most refined aesthetic ones.
