Notes

The proceeds from the sale of this lot, along with the buyer?s premium, will be entirely donated to the Geneva Musée de l?Horlogerie, to help them rebuild their collection, which was recently stolen. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Antiquorum, Chopard has introduced a special limited and numbered series of 30 "L.U. (c) 4T" 9-Day Tourbillons in stainless steel. The very first piece is being offered here. Thank you, Mr. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele Chopard. Founded in the Swiss Jura in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the Chopard firm moved to Geneva in 1920, where it launched their production of luxury watches. In 1963 Chopard was bought by Karl Scheufele, third of the line and owner of the German firm "Karl Scheufele" (founded in 1904) producing the Eszeha Watches and Jewelry. Production in both sites continued under the name of Chopard. In 1975, the company moved from the center of Geneva to its current Meyrin-Geneva location. Chopard today is headed by Karl Scheufele, president, and his wife Karin. Their children, Karl-Friedrich and Caroline, are both vice-presidents of the company. In 1996 Chopard returned to its roots by creating a fully-fledged "manufacture" in Fleurier, in the Swiss Jura, where a new automatic movement was crafted. It became known as the L.U. (c) watch and was voted "Watch of the Year" in 1997. Chopard is also the official sponsor of the famous Italian vintage car race the "Mille Miglia" and every year creates a special "Mille Miglia" watch for the event.
