Polychrome painting on enamel on copper, probably by NicolasAndré Courtois (1734-af.1806), Paris or London, showing Lady Lucy Eleanor Lowther (née Sherard; 1792-1848), in gold robe with slashed sleeve pinned at shoulder with pearl and gem-set clasp, raspberry mantle over her left shoulder, on her right arm a gem-set gold cuff, pearl and gem-set necklace, earrings, gold hairband; raspberry curtain, pillar and landscape background; wife of the Honourable Colonel Henry Cecil Lowther (1790-1867), daughter of Philip Sherard (1767-1807), 5th Earl of Harborought, 7th Baron Sherard; gold brooch frame with pierced black enamel ribbon surround set with six seedpearls. The counter-enamel is signed “Lucy Eleanor / Lowther / wife of the Hon ble / Col. Lowther / daughter of the 5th Earl of / Harborought”.
