Introduced in 2010, the DB28 rapidly became one of the defining creations of De Bethune, bringing together the manufacture’s highly contemporary approach to movement construction with a design that remains immediately recognisable. The present example, dating from 2011, belongs to the early years of the model and displays many of the technical and aesthetic elements that established the DB28’s identity.
Its openworked dial places the mechanics at the centre of the composition. The polished delta-shaped bridge dominates the upper portion, framed by blued titanium elements and the characteristic spherical moon-phase display at 6 o’clock. Executed as a three-dimensional rotating sphere, the moon indication became one of De Bethune’s most recognisable signatures, contrasting beautifully with the architectural construction of the movement.

The manually wound calibre DB2115V4 is displayed almost entirely from the dial side, with the balance prominently positioned at 6 o’clock and the power-reserve indication integrated into the movement architecture. This unconventional arrangement transforms the regulating organ and functional components into an essential part of the watch’s visual identity.
Equally distinctive is the 42.6 mm titanium case with De Bethune’s characteristic articulated floating lugs. Their mobile construction allows the case to adapt naturally to the wrist, while titanium keeps this mechanically substantial watch remarkably light. The combination of polished titanium, intense blued details and exposed mechanics gives the DB28 its characteristic futuristic appearance.

Dating from 2011 and accompanied by its original fitted box, warranty and extra strap, the present DB28 is a compelling early example of a model that has become central to De Bethune’s modern watchmaking identity.
