1/4 SECONDES FOUDROYANTES ATTRIBUTED TO EDOUARD PERREGAUX GOLD Locle, case No. 107164. Made for the American market, circa 1870. Very fine 18K gold, hunting-cased pocket watch with double-train independent center seconds and 1/4th second diablotine
Four-body, "bassine et filets", engine-turned with reeded band. Hinged gold cuvette with dedication inscription. White enamel, radial narrow Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost seconds divided into fourths, subsidiary quarter- second jump diablotine. Blued-steel spade hands. 20''', nickel, 23 jewels, pallet fork and escape wheel with gold caps, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance-spring, two- train, independent seconds activated by a push piece in the band.
