Gilded brass surveying aneroid pocket thermometer (size 1¾"). Barrel-form case with extension post on the reverse for a magnetic compass with jewelled bar needle, calibrated to 360 degrees with cardinals and intercardinals; turned and stylised pillar with suspension ring. Silvered and engraved dial with barometric scale calibrated from 23- 31 inches of mercury with stations at the inch and divided to 1/20ths; upper portion marked "Rain" "Change" "Fair" and "Compensated"; lower part marked with the name and address of the maker "Elliott Bros / 449. Strand, / London."; fine blued-steel pointer; associated rotating bezel with altitude scale calibrated from 1,000 - 8,000 feet with stations at 1,000s and divided to 100s; bevelled glass.
