"Chronomètre bascule, Spiral Cylindrique à Renversement" 18K pink gold, hunting-case, keyless-winding, round-shaped, heavy pocket chronometer, with subsidiary seconds at 6, made for the Spanish or South-American market. Silver stamped satiné dial with Roman numerals; the centre and the rim with varicoloured gold scrolled floral decoration. Cover and case-back engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with stylized foliage and geometric patterns, masks and grotesques, and, in the centre of the cover an escutcheon

Constant Girard (1825-1903) who changed his name to Girard-Perregaux after marrying Marie Perregaux, the daughter of a well-known chronometer maker, established his reputation as a maker of precision watches, including them with the famous.
