GIRARD PERREGAUX DOUBLE DIAL TRIPLE CALENDAR YELLOW GOLD Girard Perregaux, Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 62224. Made circa 1890. Very fine, impressive and rare, 18K yellow gold, keyless, double-face pocket watch with triple-date calendar and phases of the moon.
Three-body, heavy, the hinged bezels on both sides and band engraved with a repeated pattern, correctors underneath the bezel for the calendar. Silver, radial Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, center and outermost border with applied varicolored gold matte floral motifs. Blued steel spade hands. Reverse: Silver, two subsidiary dials for days of the week and months, blue enamel on gold phases of the moon with aperture at 12, outermost Arabic date scale with corresponding hand, the center matted and applied with gold foliage. Blued steel hands. 41 mm. maillechort, fausses cotes decoration, 17 jewels, finished calendar plate with partial gold wheel train, going barrel with separate bridge, counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with gold adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator.
