Notes

DIM. 4.8 x 5.7 cm. Although apparently unsigned, this very fine enamel can be attributed to Glardon-Leubel. The renowned Genevan enamellist Glardon-Leubel was trained by Jean-Léonard Lugardon and his elder brother Jacques-Aimé Glardon. Internationally recognized for his fine portraits often realized from photographs or paintings, his works were regularly exhibited in Geneva, in Paris and at the Royal Academy in London. He went on to become one of the last good painters on enamel of the Geneva School and gained considerable fame within his lifetime.
