ARNOLD & STEINWACHS "VUE SUR LES ALPS" H. Arnold & Steinwachs, Genève, No. 57189, the movement by Eterna. Made circa 1910. Very fine and very rare, 8-day going, silver, painted on enamel and ivory desk clock.
Rectangular, the front, sides and flared base decorated with translucent aquamarine guilloché enamel painted with flowers in white and pale blue enamel, the front set with a finely painted on enamel alpine scene below the dial, back door decorated with engine-turned lines. Oval ivory painted with two cupids holding a flower garland amongst clouds, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions. Rose-cut diamond-set pierced hands. 18''', frosted gilt, half plate, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with three adjustments, Breguet balance spring, index regulator.
