Notes

Developed during the Second World War, the Hamilton “Bomb Timer” represents one of the most fascinating chapters in military horology. Designed for use by Allied aircrews, these robust timing units were mounted within aircraft cockpit panels or bomb-release mechanisms to ensure absolute precision during aerial missions.

The present example, housed in a solid stainless steel case with large screw-mounted lugs, exemplifies the rugged engineering and functional clarity demanded by wartime service. Its striking black dial with luminous Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds offers superb legibility under low-light conditions.

Far more than a conventional wristwatch, this Hamilton “Bomb Timer” is a tangible artifact of aviation history, a tool born from necessity, embodying both the ingenuity and courage of a defining era.
