TAVANNES FOR HERMES, LARGE WATERPROOF CHRONOGRAPH Tavannes for Hermes. Made in the 1940s. Very fine and rare, waterproof, stainless steel wristwatch with round button chronograph and registers.

Three-body, polished and brushed, concave lugs, flat bezel, screw-down case back. Silver with painted Arabic numerals , subsidiary dials for the seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour register, 1/5 second/minute divisions with five minute radial Arabic numerals, outer red telemeter scale, blue tachometer scale. Blued steel feuille hands. 13''', rhodium-plated, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, index regulator.

Dial signed, case numbered. DIAM. 38 mm. THICKNESS 14 mm. Found very rarely with a screw-down case, this beautiful chronograph made for Hermes has been kept in almost new condition with a beautiful sharp case and a warm silver dial with contrasting red and blue scales.
