Notes

Two-thirds of rhinoceros species could become extinct in our lifetime, which would be an irreparable loss for our planet. The main cause of this is poaching. Hublot launched “Big Bang Unico SORAI» with ambassador Kevin Pietersen and his non-profit SORAI (Save Our Rhinos Africa/India), which is committed to protecting the rhinoceros. In the 2019 khaki-colored ceramic edition, (which took inspiration from the white rhinoceros and the dry savannah they inhabit), the presented reference celebrates the arrival of East Africa’s wet summer season, which brings about a rich, deep green to the jungles and grasslands. A large portion of the proceeds from the sale will go directly to Care for Wild for the care and protection of orphaned baby rhinos and to the South African National Parks Agency to support their nighttime surveillance efforts using airborne thermal reconnaissance equipment. By purchasing the watch, 100 people will be involved in this Hublot initiative based on the recommendation of SORAI.

“Our planet is home to five species of rhinoceros. According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, of these five species, the black rhinoceros, Javan rhinoceros and Sumatran rhinoceros are now considered «critically endangered,» the Indian rhinoceros is considered «endangered, vulnerable,» and the white rhinoceros is considered « critically endangered.» . I am horrified by the brutality they are subjected to. There is an urgent need for action and Hublot’s support is crucial. By acting quickly, we can protect as many rhinos as possible.”Kevin Pietersen, FOUNDER OF SORAI
