18K yellow gold and enamel, horizontal rectangular-shaped with cut corners snuff-box with hinged lid; cover, base and band decorated with Royal blue flinqué enamel (translucent enamel over guilloché engine-turning) panels. The lid with a central rectangular-shaped panel painted on enamel on gold showing Henry IV (1553-1610), King of France (1589-1610) and Navarre (1572-1610), on horseback, taking care of a poor old man, attributable to the workshop of Jean-Louis Richter (1766- 1841), Geneva. We recognize in the group of characters, on the left, Maximilien de Béthune (1559-1641), Duke of Sully, principal minister of the "Good King" who wanted each of his subjects to eat a "pouleau- pot" (chicken in the pot) every week.
