"Portuguese Automatic 2000" International Watch Co., Schaffhausen, "Portuguese Automatic 2000", No. 453/ 1000. Made in a limited edition of 1000 examples in 2000 to commemorate the new millennium. Very fine and rare, large, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel gentleman?s wristwatch with 7-day power-reserve and a stainless steel IWC buckle. Accompanied by a fitted box and a certificate.

C. Three-body, polished and brushed, concave lugs, transparent case back. D. Black with applied steel Arabic numerals, subsidiary "guilloché" dials for the seconds and the up-anddown indication. Steel "feuille" hands. M. Cal. 5000, rhodiumplated. "fausses côtes" decoration, 44 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 5 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, skeletonized bi-directional rotor with gold medallion inlay engraved "IWC -Probus Scafusia - Seven (7) Days Power- Reserve". Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 42 mm. Thickness 14 mm.

The ?Portuguese Automatic 2000? was produced in the following case metals: 1000 watches in stainless steel with black dials; 750 in 18K pink gold with silver-colored dials; and 250 only in platinum, also with silver-colored dials. Cal. 5000 was the first of a new line of IWC movements to again utilize the Albert Pellaton automatic winding system, famous for its winding efficiency.
