IWC JUMBO INGENIEUR SL QUARTZ International Watch Co., Schaffhausen, "Ingénieur SL Quartz", case No. 2280423, Ref. 9701. Sold on May 14th, 1982. Fine and rare, heavy 18K yellow gold tonneau-shaped, center- seconds, water-resistant, quartz wristwatch with instantaneous date and an integral 18K yellow gold IWC link bracelet by Gay Freres with deployant clasp. Accompanied by an IWC box, guarantee, repair warranties (1998 & 2006) and original retailer's sales receipt.

Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, sapphire crystal. White with painted radial Roman numerals, inner minutes/ seconds track, aperture for the date. Yellow gold and black baton hands. With quartz standardization.

Dial case and movement signed. DIAM. 40 mm. THICKNESS 8.5 mm. Produced between 1980 and 1983, this extremely rare Jumbo Ingenieur was produced in only 56 pieces. Bought new by the owner in 1982, for an eye-watering CHF 19"?000 (the owner recalls this was a special price as the official retail was around 22"?000 CHF), this is the first time a Jumbo Ingenieur reference 9701 has appeared at auction.
