(305) 674-2777 Barry Gibb For vocalist and songwriter Barry Gibb and his brothers Robin and Maurice, singing in harmony is as natural as breathing. They began performing when Barry was 9 and the twins were j ust 6, singing hits of the day at a local cinema. After the family emigrated to Australia, the brothers achieved stardom as a teen pop group, earning their first No. 1 in 1966 with "Spicks and Speck". They used the money from that hit to finance their return to England where they hooked up with legendary impresario Robert Stigwood. The first four UK Bee Gees albums contained a stream of hit singles, among which include "Massachusetts " , "To Love Somebody " , "Holiday", "Gotta Get a Message to You". At the same time, the Bee Gees songs were being recorded by some of their idols including Elvis Presley, Al Green, Sarah Vaughn and Janis Joplin. Always inspired by R&B music, the Bee Gees began making soul-drenched records in the 1970 ' s. 1977's "Saturday Night Fever" prompted a cultural revolution and became the highest selling soundtrack in history with No.l hits "Staying Alive ", "Night Fever " , and "How Deep is Your Love " , making the Bee Gees the biggest group in the world at the time. In the 1980's, the brother took a break to work with some of their favorite singers, writing and producing "Guilty", Barbara Streisand's Grammy-Award winner, with three top ten singles including No. 1 "Woman in Love"; Diana Ross' UK No. 1 "Chain Reaction", Dione Warwick' s "Heartbreaker"; and Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers ' "Islands in the Stream " , the most successful single in RCA Records' history and the most played country single of all time. The 1990's have been marked by continued international success with hit albums "HIGH CIVILIZATION", and "SIZE ISN'T EVERYTHING". Never content to rest on past success, having set trends and transcended fads in music for thirty years, the Bee Gees are heading for the millennium with creative spirit. The Bee Gees have had No. 1 chart records in the UK in each of the last four decades and are among the Top 5 Most Successful Recording Artists of all time. They are the only recording artists to write and produce six straight No. 1 singles, and the first composers to have five songs in the top ten at the same time. Among a lifetime of honors, they have earned 16 Grammy Awards. They are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in both the U.S. and Australia, Songwriters Hall of Fame, named by the Brit Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music, earned Lifetime Achievement honors from World Music Awards and American Music Awards.
