Notes

The Extract from the Archives, dated September 19, 2019, mentioned that this watch was manufactured in 1943. Ghiso, Buenos Aires, New York and Paris In the 1890’s, a member of the Ghiso family emigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina, from his native Italy. Within a short period of time, he opened a jewellery salon. The business became the pre-eminent house of this type in Buenos Aires. At the beginning of the 20th century, his two sons traveled to Paris where they established a branch location. One son, Oscar, coordinated all business matters as well as arranging with designers to create jewellery in the current styles which were then shipped to Buenos Aires and their other branch location in New York. Both locations were closed sometime in the late 1930’s or 1940’s, but the flagship store in Buenos Aires remained open until the 1960’s. Oscar Ghiso died in Buenos Aires in 1985.
