JAMES MCCABE GOLD DUPLEX POCKET WATCH WITH BLUE ENAMEL DIAL Jas. McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, No. 9115. Made circa 1820, the case with indistinct London hallmarks. Very fine and rare, large and heavy 18K gold pocket watch with duplex escapement and unusual blue enamel dial.

Three-body, bassine, maker's mark TW, reeded bezel, the band, pendant and bow deeply chased with fruiting vines, acorns and flowers, engine-turned back with reeded border, the center with engraved initials on a circular reserve. Fixed gold cuvette, gilt dust cover. Blue enamel with gold painted radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Gold poire hands. 42 mm., matte gilt full-plate, turned cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain with maintaining power, jeweled duplex escapement, three- arm gold balance with timing screws, flat balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator.
