Jaquet Droz, London, circa 1785. Very fine and rare 18K gold and enamel self winding watch with center seconds.
Double body case, enamelled overall, the bezel with a floral paillonne decoration, a paillonne vase of flowers on the back on a translucent blue ground over engineturning, the border ornament similar to that of the bezel. White enamel dial with Roman numerals. Gold "lozenge skelette" hands. Very fine gilt brass full plate "olive" movement, with cylindrical pillars, going barrel, cylinder escapement with a brass escape wheel, plain brass three armed balance, single foot continental cock and polished steel endpiece. The mainspring is loaded by means of a click work driven by the movement up and down of the winding weight, pivoted on the edge of the back plate and travelling on the side of the movement. The weight is locked automatically when the spring is fully loaded. Signed on the self winding weight. In very good condition. Diam. 50 mm.
