Jaquet Droz, Neuchâtel, made for the Chinese market, circa 1785. Rare and important 18-carat gold center second watch with music at will on five bells.

Double body polished case engraved on the border, the winding hole with a shutter. White enamel dial with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute and second ring. Gold " poker" and "beetle" hands. Gilt brass half plate double train movement, with going barrel, inverted cylinder escapement, plain brass three armed balance, gilt metal cock pierced and engraved with the monogram: "J. D." and diamond endstone. Musical train wound by depressing the pendant, with pointed cylinder and five polish steel hammers striking on inset pile up five bells. In very good condition. Diam. 52 mm.
