Swiss, No. 23270, Attributed to the workshop of Jaquet Droz, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1790. Fine 18K gold and enamel, pearl-set centre-seconds watch.

C. Double body, Directoire with split-pearl set fixed bezel, blue flinque enamel back panel within a splitpearl set frame and with a split-pearl inlaid centre and paillonne decorated border. Hinged gilt-brass cuvette. D. White enamel with Roman nmerals, outer minutes and seconds ring, gold skeletonised hands. M. Gilt-brass, Lepine calibre with free standing barrel, virgule escapement, plain gold three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Numbered on the cuvette. Dian. 54 mm.

Although it is not signed, from the style of the case, the hands and above hall, the Lepine calibre movement with virgule escapement and centre- seconds, this watch presents most of the features of the Jaquet Droz production for the Chinese Market.
