This enamel was probably the one exhibited by Jean-François-Victor Dupont (1785-1863), in Geneva, Musée Rath, in 1826 (No. 43). Stella,Jacques Lyon, September 29, 1596 ?? Paris, April 29, 1657 Son of the Flemish painter Francois Stella, Jacques Stella moved to Rome in the 1623 following seven years working in the Medici granducal workshop in Florence where he became proficient at painting on hardstones and slate. In 1635, he returned to France and became court painter to Louis XIII.
