JEAN-NICOLAS MENU, QUARTER-REPEATER POCKET WATCH, ENAMEL, PEARLS AND YELLOW GOLD

Very fine and rare 18K yellow gold, enamel and pearl-set, open-face, key- winding, round-shaped, "Directoire" pocket watch with quarter-repeater on one bell. Case-back painted on enamel on gold by an unidentified Genevan workshop, showing a stripling (jouvenceau) playing piper to charm the damsel (donzelle), the latter pointing out to him that he's making false musical notes.
