LOUIS DUCHENE QUARTER REPEATER Louis Duchêne et Compagnie, No. 34375. Made circa 1790. Fine, 20K gold and painted on enamel, pearl-set, quarter repeating pocket watch with glazed gilt-metal outer protecting case.

Double-body, Louis XVI with split-pearl set bezel, the enamel back panel painted with a courting couple beneath a canopy, the inscription: Gage d'Amitié, painted over a blue ground. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals. Gold pierced interlaced hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock pierced and engraved with the inscription: D. & Co., polished steel end-piece, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant.
