Notes

The Cherub Climber The watch presented here is of an extremely rare type. Indeed, watches with quarter- and minuterepeater, with Jacquemarts (jacks), are not common at the end of the 19th century. This model is even rarer because it is fitted with an automaton – a cherub – which when the striking is activated goes up and down appearing behind the trees. The repeater watches with automata of the Belle Epoque Some documents, dating from the late-19th century or early-20th century, attest to the name of various manufacturers who make pocket watches with quarter-repeater or minute-repeater with automata which are in fact most often Jacquemarts (jacks) that strike the elapsed time.
