LE ROY QUARTER REPEATING WATCH & GOLD & ENAMEL CHATELAINE ?IN THE ROSE GARDEN? Pierre Le Roy à Paris. Made circa 1750. Very fine and rare, Louis XV, quarter-repeating, gold and painted on enamel pocket watch with a gold and painted on enamel chatelaine with a gold key and gold and carnelian seal.

Two-body, Louis XV, bassine, the back decorated with a painted on enamel scene of a young man with a spade holding a plucked flower and seated in a landscape, opalescent sky over engine-turning, outer border of blue champleve enamel foliate swags, the bezel decorated to match. Chatelaine : The gold terminal pierced and engraved with a trellis pattern, set with a finely painted enamel on gold plaque depicting a young lady in country dress in her garden watering the roses, gold paillon and blue enamel border, four gold chains, the inner two decorated with blue and white champleve enamel cross links, seed pearl-set terminals. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and outermost Arabic five-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2. Pierced and engraved gold hands. M. 30 mm., matte gilt full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation scale, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. DIAM. 39 mm.
