JULIEN LE ROY GOLD & ENAMEL QUARTER REPEATER FINE ENAMEL FLOWERS Jul(ien) Le Roy a Paris, No. 907. Made for the Turkish market, circa 1800. Very fine and rare, quarter-repeating, pair-cased, gold, enamel and pearl-set pocket watch with outer gilt-metal and shagreen case.

OUTER Two-body, gilt metal, overlaid with shagreen, the back with holes for sound emission. INNER Two-body, gold, the bezel decorated with pierced engraved gold and red translucent enamel flowers and foliage and white enamel flower-heads, blue translucent enamel banding, pearl-set bezel, the back decorated with very finely painted on enamel flowers on a blue ground, pearl-set border, translucent red and opaque blue borders and outer border to match the bezel, shuttered aperture for winding and symmetrical faux winding hole. White enamel with radial Islamic numerals, outer minute track and outermost Islamic five-minute numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Full plate gilt-brass, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant.
