Jaeger-LeCoultre, “Powermatic”
In 1946, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced their first automatic wristwatch. In 1948, the manufacture launched the “Powermatic”, the first automatic wristwatch fitted with a 40-hour power reserve indication. The model was marketed as the “Powermatic”, even if the early pre “Powermatic” versions, such as the present watch, were fitted with a dial printed “Automatic” and not "Powermatic", as the latest versions. The model was available in gold (18K or 14K), gold filled and stainless steel. When the mechanism is fully charged, the indicator shows 40 hours running time and moves into red when the power reserve is nearly discharged.
