A fine and unusual, silver rectangular-shaped, small Butterfield-type portable horizontal sundial, with compass. The plate engraved in taille-douce with three hour scales for latitudes 46° and 49°; spring-loaded folding gnomon with bird-shaped index and latitude scale from 45° to 55°. Small central engraved rosette bearing the maker’s signature. The reverse engraved in taille-douce with the names of eight European cities and their respective latitudes.
