LEONARD BORDIER WATCH GOLD, ENAMEL, PEARL & DIAMOND Leonard Bordier, No. 3433. Made circa 1790. Very fine and rare, gold, painted on enamel, pearl and rose-cut diamond-set pocket watch with outer glazed giltmetal protective case.

Two-body, "Directoire", the bezel set with pearls, the back decorated with translucent royal blue guilloche enamel decorated with gold paillons and with a dog and two doves, applied rose-cut diamond-set highlights, the center with a navette-shaped gold and white enamel sunburst set with rose-cut diamonds. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute track with Arabic fifteen-minute numerals. Rose-cut diamond-set hands. 42 mm., matte gilt full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. Movement signed, case and movement numbered.

DIAM. 51 mm. This late 18th century watch has survived in remarkable condition probably due to the survival of the outer protecting case. The enamel and decoration is near-perfect and unrestored and with perfect enamel dial. An excellent example for the collector.
